New Zealand horror-comedies are having a moment. Hat-tip to my mother (with whom I’ve watched the other big Kiwi horror-comedy release of the past year — twice!).
And I’m not saying there’s a direct parallel between Housebound and The Others, but there are some echoes. Mostly this flick — about an ankle-monitored reprobate who has to move back into her childhood home with her mother, and what appears to be a ghost — is kind of sweet, really.
